JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A soon-to-open dog bar in Johnson City is now accepting registrations.
Off Leash Social plans to open in the near future, but before the location officially opens pet owners can go ahead and register their dogs on line. Subscriptions are available on an annual or monthly basis, which include various benefits depending on the purchase. Day tours can also be purchased.
The site covers 30,000 square feet and will feature obstacles and specially designed wood fiber rather than grass.
The area’s first dog bar will allow owners and other human visitors to sample beer, wine and a selection of food trucks. While patrons are lounging and drinking, pets can roam off-leash and play with each other.
“We just created a safe space where you can come and let your dog run free knowing that all dogs here are vaccinated, all dogs here are neutered and neutered, and that we have a system to handle unruly dogs here,” said Paul Boynton, who owns Off Leash Social with his wife and partner Nina.
The Boyntons said toys are not allowed at the dog bar in order to avoid possessive or protective behavior.
Off Leash Social received its occupancy certificate in June.
