Kate Middleton snuggled up to an adorable therapy pup during her recent royal outing and gave a rare and special update on the Cambridge family pet more than a year after welcoming a new dog.
Like many members of The company, from Queen with her corgis, to Duchess Camilla’s rescue dogs, Bluebell and Beth, Kate Middleton and Prince William are huge dog lovers. Almost exactly a year ago, it was reported that The Duke and Duchess were ‘in love’ with a new furry family member arriving in 2020. The Cambridges are believed to have welcomed a cocker spaniel puppy gifted to them by James Middleton, undoubtedly delightful Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Since then, the name, gender and personality traits of their new arrival have remained confidential. However, Kate is said to have finally shed some light on parts of the mystery with a rare update.
Stepping out in Lancashire on January 20, Kate Middleton was pictured with an adorable therapy cockapoo pup, Alfie, during a visit to Clitheroe Community Hospital. They discovered how NHS Charities Together, of which they are co-patron, helps to support the mental health of frontline workers and discovered the challenges faced by staff who work both in hospital and in their rural community. in response to the pandemic.
The Cambridges were also introduced to Alfie and while animal-loving Kate certainly seemed to enjoy the experience, her dog may not have been so thrilled. According to The Independent, Kate Middleton has shared a rare update on the Cambridge family’s pet on this latest outing as fans finally know their pup’s gender.
As she and William were showered with canine affection, Kate reportedly said, “Our dog is going to be very upset,” before explaining, “She’s going to be like ‘where have you been?'”
“Yeah, ‘who did you see?'” William reportedly added cheerfully.
This is the first time since it was reported that William and Kate had a new pet they directly referenced their dog’s gender. Not only that, but it seems like she’s a loving pet, eager to find out what other dogs her owners have seen while working as royals.
Although the name of their beloved spaniel has not been revealed by the Duke and Duchess, there is a canine companion that is well known to royal fans. In 2011, the couple became the proud owners of a male black cocker spaniel Lupo.
He even got a sneaky appearance in Kate and William anniversary video in 2021 and would also have been a gift from Kate’s brother James, who owns six dogs himself.
Very unfortunately, Prince William and Kate heartbreakingly lost Lupo in November 2020. Speaking to their official social media accounts at the time they wrote, ‘Sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been the heart of our family for nine years and we will miss him so much. – BATHROOM.’
While they’ll probably still miss Lupo a lot, if Kate’s update on the Cambridge family pet is anything to go by, it fits right in and brings them great joy.
