The Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS) currently has at least 30 dogs in his charge wait for someone to come and make them part of their family. While they wait for that day, the VHS is doing everything it can to put them at ease and keep them healthy until it happens. And for now, they could use a few items to help them do that.
The refuge posted on Facebook On Wednesday they are currently running out of what they call “canine enrichment supplies.” According to the post, dogs are given a different enrichment item every day to help them keep their minds active. Here’s what the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has to say about the importance of providing enrichment products for dogs:
By allowing your dog to adopt these behaviors, you allow him to be satisfied physically, emotionally and mentally. Dogs that don’t receive stimulation tend to find ways to enrich themselves, resulting in unwanted behavior.
VHS is seeking donations for the following items:
- Peanut Butter
- Wet dog food (boxes or sachets)
- Brown paper bags
- Easy cheese (spray cheese)
How to make a donation
If you would like to help VHS by donating any or all of these items, simply drop them off at VHS at 400 Millner Drive on the north side of Evansville during the following times:
- Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Sundays between noon and 4:00 p.m.
