As the Russians continue to carry out military assaults on Ukrainian cities, the country’s residents are hiding in subway cars, basements and bomb shelters.

Even if Russia says it will refocus its military strategy In eastern Ukraine, Russian forces stepped up attacks on western cities like Lviv on Saturday, where displaced civilians had recently sought refuge after the war.

The displacement of the millions of lives in Ukraine, a month after the invasion began, is evident in photos of gutted apartment buildings, armed dogs and the belongings of abandoned children.
