Parade of Homes Pet Edition underway at the Village at Meridian

Students from West Ada’s Career and Technical Education Program created and designed the themed pet houses to be featured during the three-day event.

MERIDIAN, Idaho — The inaugural Parade of Homes Pet Edition event takes over Meridian Village Friday through Sunday.

Students from West Ada’s Vocational and Technical Education Program enrolled in the Level 1 Home Building class were tasked with designing and creating themed pet houses to be displayed during the event.

Professional Women in Building (PWB) Section of the Building Contractors Association of Southwest Idaho (BCASWI) created the event to raise funds for its Scholarship and Vocational Training Fund.

During the three-day showcase, pet homes will be raffled off for the scholarship fund. The program “supports the continuing education and training of our local students who are ideally suited for rewarding career paths in the construction trades”, according to BCASWI.

Professional Women in Building collected large material donations to provide construction students with the resources to build the homes for the Parade of Homes Pet Edition event.

Each Pet Home raffle ticket is $20, and tickets to win a prize or gift basket in a separate raffle are $5 for one or $20 for five.

According to PWB’s Facebook page, 51 companies sponsored the inaugural event. College Hunks will move the pet houses Sunday night after the showcase ends and the houses can be picked up at their office in Boise.

The Parade of Homes Pet Edition is open at the Village at Meridian until 6 p.m. Friday. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
